Purse Dippers stopped by Police

Today, at around 12:15, Officers were alerted to two females potentially purse dipping in Cannock Town Centre.

Working in pairs, one has tried to distract a female shopper, whilst the other managed to unzip her handbag to about halfway.

Luckily, the female noticed what was happening and challenged the females, who ran off.

She then alerted Cannock shopping centre security, who alerted Police immediately.

The females were both detained by Officers a short time later.

Please remain vigilant whilst out and about and if you see any suspicious behaviour, please call 999.  Luckily, on this occasion nothing was stolen.  Keep your belongings close to you and if you require any purse bells which have proved to be a deterrent, please pop into Cannock Police Station during office hours and we will be happy to supply them free of charge.
