Crime Alert

We are continuing to see incidents of motorbike theft with the city and as a result, we again are urging members of the public who own a motorbike to take steps to prevent yourselves from becoming a victim of motorbike theft.

If you own a motorbike, here are some tips to ensure the upmost security of your bike.

If you are able to store your bike inside and out of pubic eye do so as much as possible. If this is not possible, use a space such as a rear garden and block gated access to prevent your bike from being wheeled out.

Keep your bike in view of CCTV whenever possible.

Utilise the use bike security equipment of alarms, Trackers, immobilisers and heavy duty bike chains.

Keep your keys stored somewhere secure and safe away from any doors and windows.

Consider usage of DNA marking kits such as SELECTaDNA to put a marking on the bike that is invisible to the naked eye. This can act as both a deterrent and a useful tool should you become a victim of motorbike theft.

Staffordshire Police are committed to tackling the ongoing issues in relation to motorbike theft and with your help taking these easy steps, we can work together in reducing the number of people falling victim to motorbike theft.
