PIGEON KILLED - CANNOCK

Good afternoon,

We have received a report that a pigeon was shot on the evening of 29th June in the vicinity of Wolverhampton Road, Cannock. The injured bird was taken to a local veterinary practice but, sadly, had to be euthanised due to the severity of its injuries.

We are currently investigating this matter and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist our enquiries. If you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around that time, please get in touch. The incident reference is SP-20250629-0663.

We would also like to remind the public that under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to kill or injure wild birds without a valid general licence or specific exemption. These licences are issued under strict conditions and only in certain circumstances, such as for public health or safety. Unlawful shooting of wild birds is a criminal offence and will be treated seriously.

Thank you for your assistance.
