Part 1: Suspicious incident reported, suspicious incident update, Neighbourhood Watch & Community updates |
||||||||||||
Good afternoon everyone,
This will be part 1 of 2 e-mails.
Firstly, I wanted to say a very big welcome to everyone who has recently joined Staffordshire Smart Alerts. Over the last few weeks we have had ‘sign ups’ from all across our area and I strongly believe that this system with help everyone feel safer, more reassured and will be a fantastic platform for showcasing the very best of Trentham & Hanford.
Suspicious incident update Regarding the suspicious incident on 20/06/2025, which took place at Elmstead Close, whereby a male appeared to try and gain access to a container on the driveway of a property. This male has now been identified and efforts will be made to locate him to address his conduct.
Shoplifting- I am aware of a number of shopliftings that took place recently. I am liaising closely with the officers investigating these incidents and I will update you further once I know more.
Suspicious incident - We have received a report that on 06/07/25 at approximately 12:38 hours that 2 males were seen in Abingdon Way. One of the males walked up the drives of two properties and appeared to look through the window of at least 1. We have had no further reports, however if you have any CCTV or information which may help our enquiries please call 101 quoting serial 211 of 07/07/25 - thank you
Neighbourhood Watch events and updates
New Neighbourhood watch zones have been created in Turnberry Dr, Richmond Rd, Barnwell Grove, Belvedere Rd, Renfrew Pl and Carrick Pl. If you live within these locations and would like to add your address to the zones you can do so by visiting www.ourwatch.org.uk
Many more zones will soon be created.
On 12/07/2025 myself and a number of Police Cadets will be going door to door delivering welcome packs to those residing within the new zones. My hope is that through neighbourhood Watch, residents will not only look out for each other in a crime prevention capacity but will also be able to share with neighbours, friends and relatives, the contact information for both the emergency services and a number of other agencies, should they need help and support. Within the pack will be an A4 poster which I have made – it contains the contact numbers for the emergency services and a number of other agencies such as the NHS Mental Health Crisis Team, domestic abuse victim support, Trading Standards, ASB team, social care and many others – if anyone would like one please let me know and I will deliver it to your home address. To help launch the new zones, on 19/07/2025 from 10am – 14:00 the mobile Police Station will be present on the Man In Space car park. There will be a number of other agencies there and you are all very welcome to come along, speak to local officers and the other agencies.
Community engagement
I recently spoke of wanting to continue to look at ways we can improve engagement with the community and in recent weeks there has been plenty of opportunities for it – which has been fantastic! On Thursday 26th June I attended the Priory CE Academy at the end of the school day to say hello to everyone. Thank you to everyone who continue to park safely and legally around our schools. This really does make a big difference in ensuring that children and their families get to school and home safely. Just a couple of vehicles were required to move due to parking too close to junctions. On Friday 27th June I attended Ash Green Academy at the end of the school day. I handed out a number of ‘Smart Alert’ sign up letters and I was very happy to see no parking problems during this patrol!
Care Home Visits
Recently I visited Hanford Manor and also had the opportunity to attend a residents meeting at Hanford Court. Its very important to me that residents within our Care Homes know they are very much apart of our community. This was a great opportunity to tell residents about the work of the Neighbourhood Policing Team are doing in the area but to also listen about what jobs they use to do and what they would like the Police to focus on. I’ll be attending more of our care homes in the very near future!
Youth Club – Trentham Parish Church
On 20/06/25 myself and colleagues attended this fantastic youth club, where we encountered some really good pool, table football and ping pong players! The kids also got the chance to see the mobile Police Station. This is a great group to join, if you would like more information please visit www.trenthamparishchurch.co.uk
Hanford Residents Association litter pick
On 28/06/2025 I went along to say hello to members of the Hanford Residents Association who were taking part in a litter pick in the Hanford area. This was another great example of the fantastic work being completed by our resident associations.
Summer Fair – Trentham Academy
On 28/06/2025 I visited the summer fair which took place at Trentham Academy. This looked like a great and very well attended event. Well done to Trentham Academy and everyone involved in putting on this event.
Beavers talk
On 30/06/2025 I visited the Beavers at the Trentham Scout Hut, where I was able to answer plenty of questions about my job and how the Police are here to help – thank you for inviting me along!!
