Dealer who tried to outrun officers jailed

A man who tried to outrun officers after they spotted him dealing drugs in Tamworth has been jailed.

MaCauley Parry, 21, from Birmingham, was sentenced to four-years-and-one-month in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday (9 July).

He pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, possessing criminal property and possessing a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis/cannabis resin).

On 21 February 2023, proactive officers stopped a car in Ribblesdale, Stonydelpth, after earlier seeing Parry and another man approach the vehicle in Carlcroft.

Two wraps of heroin were found inside the car.

Just over half-an-hour later, Parry and his companion were located on Crowden Road.

Both men ran off when approached by officers but were detained a short time later.

When officers searched the pair, they found a large knife, a phone, £1,170 cash and cannabis.

A mobile phone discarded by Parry as officers chased him was recovered nearby.

Yesterday’s sentence comes after another man was jailed for two-years-and-10-months in February after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and possessing a bladed article at the same court.
