Almost 60 vehicles stopped during enforcement action

Nearly 60 vehicles were stopped and checked at the roadside during a day of enforcement action in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers from the Stoke-on-Trent North local policing team (LPT) arranged and led a proactive operation on Thursday (10 July) with support from our roads policing unit (RPU), the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), DVLA and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

A total of 58 vehicles were stopped and around a third of the stops resulted in either an arrest, a search or a ticket being issued.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug driving and another person was arrested on suspicion of bail offences.

Two vehicles were seized and five tickets were issued for a range of driving offences such as illegal window tints, defective tyres and having no MOT.

Two dogs were also rescued after they were spotted by officers inside a locked vehicle during dangerous weather conditions.

Sergeant Emma Blackband, from our Stoke-on-Trent North LPT, said: “I would like to thank our partner agencies who took part in this operation and I hope it sends a clear message that we will not tolerate dangerous driving or vehicles in Stoke-on-Trent.

“We are committed to keeping the city’s roads and communities safe.”
