Officers help celebrate good news for charity |
||
Officers from Newcastle local policing team (LPT) supported a charity that looks after the loved ones of police officers and staff who have died on duty at a special event. Mayor of Kidsgrove, Jonathan Gullis, has officially announced two organisations as his chosen charities for his term in office – Care of Police Survivors (COPS) and the Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre. Newcastle LPT commander, Chief Inspector Darren McGrath, met up with Jonathan, alongside a representative from COPS and the support centre, to say thank you.
Darren said: “It’s brilliant to see two such worthy charities receive the support of our local mayor. “Of course, COPS is a cause close to our hearts for obvious reasons here at Staffordshire Police, but it’s also great to see an organisation that supports veterans recognised. “Last year we were proud to receive a Gold Employer Recognition Award from the Ministry of Defence for our commitment to supporting our armed forces and veteran communities in Staffordshire. “Recognition like this can help us to ensure that the legacy of police officers and staff, and veterans, is not forgotten.” Our Chief Constable, Chris Noble, is Chair of Trustees for COPS after serving on the charity’s board of trustees as a volunteer since 2022. | ||
