Appeal following attempted burglary

We are appealing for information after an attempted burglary in Newcastle-under-Lyme recently.

We were called at 5.45am on Monday (28 July) to a property off Porthill Bank.

A resident had reported being alerted by his doorbell at around 3am to unknown individuals acting suspiciously near to the rear of his property.

The victim went to the back of his house and shouted out of the window to the two offenders who then ran away.

The suspects were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

We believe they may have been trying to gain access to the property in order to steal a vehicle.

We are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious or who may have relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to get in touch with us.

Contact us on 101 quoting incident number 89 of 28 July.

To report anonymously, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
