We’ve seen a rise in number plate thefts across the area. Stolen plates are often used to disguise vehicles involved in criminal activity, including fuel theft and burglary.
To help protect your vehicle, please consider the following crime prevention tips:
🚗 Number Plate Theft Prevention Advice:
• Use anti-theft screws: These special screws make it difficult for thieves to remove your plates quickly.
• Park in well-lit areas: Thieves are less likely to target vehicles in visible, busy locations.
• Install CCTV or motion-sensor lighting: Especially if parking on a driveway or near your home.
• Report suspicious activity: If you notice someone tampering with vehicles, call Staffordshire Police on 101.
• Check your plates regularly: Especially if your vehicle is parked for extended periods.
If your number plates are stolen, report it immediately to Staffordshire Police and DVLA to avoid being linked to criminal offences.
