Sex offender jailed for 17 years |
||
A man from Stone who raped and sexually assaulted a number of women has been jailed for 17 years.
Shane Davis, 36, of Stone, was found guilty of five sexual offences following an earlier trial and has been sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Tuesday 16 September).
Davis made forceful advances on the survivors and pressured them into sexual acts against their will. He abused them between 2018 and 2023 until he was reported to us in November 2023.
Investigators worked hard to gather all of the evidence needed to secure charges against him and to support the survivors. Davis was charged with seven offences, including three counts of rape of a woman, three counts of sexual assault of a female and one count of intentional strangulation.
At the end of his trial in July this year, the jury deemed Davis guilty on five counts, including two counts of rape of a woman and three counts of sexual assault of a female.
As part of his sentencing, he was given an indefinite restraining order against the survivors and put on the Sex Offender’s Register for life. He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
DC Charlotte Morrey, from our rape and serious sexual offences unit (RASSO), said: “I would like to thank all the survivors who came forward to tell us what had happened to them in this case. They have shown immense bravery and courage to help us secure the conviction against Davis.
“I hope this encourages and shows any survivors that they will be listened to and positive action will be taken against those responsible for these horrific crimes.”
