A man wielding a machete who broke into a home in Tamworth has been jailed.
Nathan Rooke, 41, of Stoneydelph, Tamworth, appeared at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday (17 September) and has been locked up for seven years after pleading guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing.
In October last year, Rooke worked together with a group of other people to break into a home in the area. They were wearing masks and Rooke was carrying a machete. They were looking for somebody who wasn’t there.
During the incident, a woman’s head was smashed against a wall, causing a laceration.
She did not go to hospital and thankfully was not seriously hurt.
Officers from our criminal investigations department launched an investigation to find out who was responsible. Rooke was identified, arrested, and brought in for questioning.
We secured the evidence needed to bring him before the courts, where he admitted aggravated burglary with intent.
DC Emily Knapp, from our CID, said: “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to build the evidence needed to bring Rooke to justice for his actions.
“We will always seek the toughest possible punishment in court for those who engage in violence and cause harm to communities in Staffordshire.” | ||
