Two men have been arrested after we pursued and stopped a stolen car in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Ford Mondeo was taken in the early hours of Saturday (11 October) from outside a home in Milton. At about 3.45am the next morning (Sunday 12 October), officers spotted the car being driven in the area. It was followed through Dresden and Lightwood when the driver made off at speed and refused to stop.
When the driver got onto Sandon Road, Meir, officers from the road crime team managed to sting the car and box it in, bringing it to a stop.
A 23-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and failing to stop a vehicle when required by a constable.
Another man from Stoke-on-Trent, aged 28, has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
They were both interviewed in custody and bailed with conditions while enquiries continue.
We’re determined to go after those responsible for burglary, theft and robbery, no matter where they go.
By working proactively to pursue offenders and patrol hotspot areas, we’ve been able to reduce the amount of burglaries, thefts and robberies in 2024, when compared to 2023. | ||
