A drug dealer who tried to hide crack cocaine and heroin in his underwear after being stopped in Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed.
Anis Hussain, 22, of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to two-and-a-half-years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday (15 October) after he admitted possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – heroin and possessing a controlled drug of class B – cannabis.
He was stopped by proactive officers in Fenton on 4 August. At the time, he had £235 on him and two mobile phones. One of them was linked to the ‘Ace’ drugs line and had sent 9,049 messages to local contacts advertising the sale of drugs.
When Hussain was arrested and searched in custody, we found an estimated £1,090-worth of class A drugs in his underwear. Cannabis was also found when we searched his home.
Due to the strength of our evidence, we secured the charges against Hussain and took him to court, where he eventually pleaded guilty.
As part of his sentencing, he was ordered to pay £228 in costs.
PC Rehanne Mellor, from our city proactive team, said: “Those involved in the supply of drugs on our streets profit financially from the vulnerability and addiction of local people, which causes widespread harm within local communities, as well as the exploitation of people who are often coerced into running the drugs on behalf of serious criminals.
“We’re determined to keep working proactively to gather the intelligence needed to stop drug lines from operating in Staffordshire.” | ||
