A drug dealer who was caught with an estimated £1,000-worth of cocaine in Cannock and stolen bank cards has been jailed.
Ionut Alexandru, 22, of Coventry, was sentenced to two years in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday (30 October) after he admitted possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – cocaine, theft from the person of another, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.
He was stopped while sat in a car in August this year. When major and organised crime team officers told him that he was going to be searched, he admitted that he had cocaine on him.
A number of snap seal bags containing deals of cocaine were found inside the car, as well as a mobile phone and £160.
The phone had messages on it advertising the sale of the drugs locally. The total estimated street value of the cocaine was believed to be between £840 and £1,050.
When we searched his home in Coventry, we found 33 bank cards in various different names and 21 smart phones.
Alexandru was brought in for questioning and was charged with the offences, before pleading guilty in court and being sentenced.
