Staffordshire Police are urging rural communities, including farms and commercial premises, to remain alert following recent reports of machinery and plant thefts from isolated locations.
Thieves are targeting items such as tractors, quad bikes, trailers, diggers, power tools, and GPS equipment. Rural properties and farms are often chosen due to their remote settings and the high resale value of equipment.
  β
How to Protect Your Machinery & Plant:
Keep equipment out of sight where possible β store inside secure buildings or behind locked gates
Use high-quality locks, chains, and wheel clamps on vehicles and trailers
Install tracking devices on tractors, quad bikes and plant machinery
Mark and register equipment using systems such as CESAR or property marking kits
Improve lighting and CCTV coverage, especially around storage areas
Secure keys in a locked cabinet away from machinery
Check fences and access points regularly for signs of tampering
Record serial numbers and photographs of all valuable machinery

If you see suspicious vehicles, unusual activity or drones in rural locations, please report it to Staffordshire Police via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers.
Working together, we can reduce rural crime and keep Staffordshireβs farming and commercial communities safe.   |
