A man who stabbed two other people with a pair of scissors in Stoke-on-Trent has been jailed.
Abdulrahin Abbker, 25, of Stoke-on-Trent, pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday (5 November) to two counts of wounding and one count of possessing of a bladed article in a public place. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
It happened in Hanley Park in May this year. Abbker approached both of the victims, leading to an argument between them. Abbker pulled out the scissors from his bag and used them to stab one man in the stomach and another man in the leg.
After receiving a 999 call about the incident, officers went to the scene and quickly detained Abbker. Both victims were taken to hospital, where their injuries were not deemed life-threatening or life-changing. They both made full recoveries.
After being questioned, we secured the charges against Abbker and brought him before the courts.
DC Isobel Holliday, from our criminal investigation department, said: “Abbker could have easily caused far more serious harm in this incident and has been rightfully convicted for his actions.
“Those who commit high harm offences in our communities will be relentlessly pursued by officers who are determined to seek the toughest possible punishment for violent offenders in court.” | ||
