Have your say on town centre safety across Staffordshire |
||
|
Do you visit your town centre often? We’d like to hear from you as part of our efforts to engage with local communities over how safe they feel in the places they live, work and visit across Staffordshire.
We’ve designed a community survey for people in Staffordshire to give direct feedback to us, helping us to further develop ways of making sure people feel safe in their communities, day and night.
It follows the ongoing work we’ve been doing across busy town centres and high footfall areas in the county to proactively investigate crime and provide a visible presence at the right time. We identified 19 hotspot locations as part of a data-led approach to problem-solving, where officers have completed more than 9,000 hours of visible overtime patrols since May this year, helping to drive down all crime in those areas by 11 per cent, knife crime reductions of 26 per cent and serious violence reductions of four per cent.
We’re continuing to use this approach across our towns and cities to make sure people working, living and visiting Staffordshire feel safe.
Superintendent John Owen, who had led on our problem-solving approach to neighbourhood crime, said: “The results from our work are really encouraging, but what matters the most is how local people feel.
“It’s really important that you provide us with the information and the intelligence needed to tackle the problems that matter the most to you, and this survey is going to be a vital tool in helping us achieve that.
“Feedback for the officers on the ground carrying out these patrols has been fantastic across the board so far, which is really pleasing to see, but we still want to continue driving this local engagement so that we can get stuck in to the real problems and issues which are causing concern to people in Staffordshire.
“I’d urge anyone who visits their town or city centres to take a small amount of time out of their day to complete this survey. It is really going to help us with our ongoing efforts to make Staffordshire as safe as it can possibly be.”
