Warning after Children fall into iced lake

Emergency services have been at Tunstall park this afternoon when children fell through an ice covered lake.

Police and fire services managed to rescue the youngsters who had got into danger,

We are urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of walking on  ice covered water.

Ice can appear thick near the edge but gets thinner towards the middle.

Falling into icy water can cause hyperthermia causing a sudden shock to the body, making it hard to breath, it can be difficult or impossible to get out.

The children involved today were very lucky and have been returned home safely please speak with your children the next outcome might not be as positive.
