DRINK AND DRUG DRIVING UPDATE |
||
|
A total of 228 drivers have been arrested for drink or drug driving across Staffordshire in a proactive crackdown aimed at saving lives on the county’s roads.
We have intensified our efforts to stop drink and drug driving over the festive period, testing a total of 2,117 drivers, completing breath tests for alcohol and drug wipes between Monday 24 November 2025 and yesterday (Monday 5 January).
A total of 130 motorists stopped tested positive for being under the influence of alcohol, while 84 were found to have drugs in their system (cannabis and cocaine).
Chief Inspector Scott McGrath, head of our dedicated road crime team (RCT), which led the campaign, said: “While it’s very difficult to accurately measure, we’re confident that our robust enforcement efforts over the last month have made our roads safer and, hopefully, prevented more serious or fatal collisions from happening in the first place."
