Over the next few hours it is forecast that Storm Goretti will hit the UK and affect the East Midlands. It is forecast that heavy snow, and very strong winds, with a mix of rain sleet and snow. Please keep a close eye on local weather forecasts. If the forecast is accurate please, only drive if necessary if the storm is as bad as forecast. Local transport systems, trains etc are preparing and already making cancellations and contingency plans. Please keep an eye out for your neighbours, especially if they are elderly if heavy snow occurs. Winds of up to 90mph are forecast which regularly brings trees, large branches and the such onto the roads, making it hazardous for drivers especially in low light and during storm conditions.
