At least 2 oil thefts have been discovered today both from Licenced premises. Oil thefts are not new, however with the adverse weather conditions the higher price for all means of heating has made it a more attractive commodity. The issue with oil is the tendency not to check your oil levels on a regular basis which means smaller amounts stolen 20/30lts may go unnoticed for days or even weeks. Please secure your tanks with a heavy duty padlock and check the levels regularly marking on the view glass with the levels when checked. If you have CCTV try to have the oil tank covered by the CCTV. Although these two reported thefts are from licenced properties, its highly likely that domestic properties have have been targeted and not yet discovered. BE VIGILANT report anything suspicious they will have means of transport. |
