Criminals Using Keyless Signal‑Scanning Devices

We are seeing an increase in thefts where offenders use signal‑scanning or relay devices to unlock and start vehicles without needing the physical key. These thefts are silent, quick, and often committed by offenders working in pairs.

🔐 Protect Your Vehicle

1. Block the Signal

Store keyless fobs in a Faraday bag.

Keep keys away from doors, windows, and hallways.

Store spare keys securely.

🔒 2. Add Visible Security

Use a steering wheel lock.

Consider a gearstick or handbrake lock.

Install a Thatcham‑approved tracking device.

💡 3. Improve Home Security

Install CCTV / doorbell cameras.

Use motion‑activated lighting on driveways.

Keep doors and windows locked.

Check with your manufacturer:

Can keyless entry be turned off?

Does your model offer signal sleep mode?

Are there security software updates available?

Individuals loitering near driveways
