Two people have been arrested on suspicion of fraud offences in Newcastle-under-Lyme. On Friday (16 January), we received a report that money and belongings had been going missing from a flat in Kidsgrove for around twelve months, belonging to a man in his 90s. Following an investigation, a 75-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, both from Newcastle-under-Lyme, have been arrested today (Friday 23 January) on suspicion of fraud by false representation. They both remain in custody for questioning. We are appealing for anyone with any information that might help our investigation to get in touch. Contact DC Stubbs at David.Stubbs@staffordshire.police.uk, or use Live Chat on our website. Fraud is the biggest crime type in the UK, accounting for an estimated 41 per cent of all crime in the year ending September 2024. To report it, visit Action Fraud's website or call 0300 123 2040.
