Take Care with approaches by Charity in the Street |
||
|
Good Morning
I was approached yesterday by a member of the public who reported to me that she had been stopped whilst at Ventura Park and asked to sign a petition pertaining to support for the deaf community.
The lady did sign the petition but was then asked for her bank details to make a payment which she did not feel comfortable to do in the street and also felt that the person was unduly insistent on this and was making her uncomfortable so she refused to give her details.
Please be very careful if you are approached by a person such as this…it is not advisable to give personal details to someone who approaches you in the street. If you do want to donate to a charity take the time to access it and set up payments directly with them rather than uninvited approaches in the street.
I am grateful to this lovely lady for making me aware of this. Local Officers are now aware and will be looking out for this. | ||
