Bicycle Safety

There have been a number of reported bike thefts in and around Stafford Town Centre, I am sharing some safety and security advice you may wish to follow.

🚲 Cycle Safety Smart Alert 🚨

As the weather improves and more of us take to two wheels, please remember to keep both your bike and your journey safe.

✔️ Stay Safe While Riding

Wear a helmet and bright or reflective clothing – be seen to stay safe.

Use lights (front and rear) at night or in low visibility.

Stick to cycle lanes where possible and follow road signals.

Stay alert to pedestrians, vehicles, and junctions.

🔒 Keep Your Bike Secure

Use a D‑lock or heavy-duty chain, ideally securing both the frame and wheels.

Lock your bike to a solid, immovable object in a well‑lit area.

Remove detachable items like lights or GPS units.

Consider adding a second lock – thieves dislike a challenge.
