#VisibleLocalTrusted | Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team were out across the district yesterday afternoon trialling a brand‑new portable metal‑detecting arch on behalf of Staffordshire Police.
The arch was deployed at several key locations as part of our ongoing work to support community safety.
The aim is simple: to reassure the public, enhance safety, and make the most of the technology available to us. This new equipment allows officers to engage proactively with communities, identify potential risks, and deter the carrying of weapons in busy public areas. It’s quick to deploy, highly visible, and gives officers another practical tool for preventing crime and protecting the public.
To strengthen this operation, we worked alongside the West Midlands Railway Security Team and the charity Railway Children, an organisation dedicated to protecting vulnerable young people who may be at risk on the rail network or in transport hubs. Their support helps ensure that safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.
By using the arch at different hotspots and community settings, officers can increase visibility, encourage positive conversations with local residents, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to keeping the district safe.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to rotate the arch around various locations in the coming months so keep an eye out, come and speak to us, and find out more about how we’re working together to keep our communities safe.
