999 Calls |
||
|
We’re urging people to only call 999 in the event of a genuine emergency following a spike in demand in our force control room. Over the last two days, we’ve taken more than 4,000 calls for service. This is a volume we typically see in our peak summer months, when demand is at its highest in Staffordshire. During this period, we answered more than 600 emergency (999) calls, on average, per day. Some of these calls were not emergency situations, or even policing matters and considered a misuse of the 999 service, which delays us answering genuine calls with people in need. With the bank holiday approaching, we expect high demand to continue and ask for your support to ensure we can respond to emergencies swiftly.
