🚨 Stay Safe Near Waterways 🚨

As the weather warms up, more people are heading outdoors — and your Neighbourhood Policing Team is urging everyone to stay safe around canals and waterways.

Water can be extremely dangerous. Slips, falls, cold‑water shock and hidden hazards can all lead to serious injury.

✅ Please remember:

• Keep back from canal edges — they can be slippery
• Always supervise children near water
• Don’t jump, swim, or enter the canal
• Avoid alcohol near the water
• Stick to well‑lit, designated paths
• Report any suspicious or unsafe behaviour

🐾 Pet owners: Keep dogs on a lead near canals to stop them falling in or pulling you in.

🚨 In an emergency:
Call 999.
Do not enter the water — use life rings if available and wait for emergency services.
