With warmer weather bringing longer days and more time spent outdoors, Staffordshire Police would like to remind residents to take a few simple steps to help protect their homes from opportunistic crime.

✅ Lock up before you head out
Even if you’re only popping out or spending time in the garden, make sure doors and windows are locked.

✅ Secure garden items
Ladders, tools and garden furniture can be used to gain access to your home. Store them securely or lock them away.

✅ Keep valuables out of sight
Make sure items such as phones, keys and laptops are not visible through windows or open doors.

✅ Use outside lighting
Security lighting can help deter unwanted activity, especially around gardens, side entrances and sheds.

✅ Look out for your neighbours
If a neighbour is away, keep an eye on their property and report anything suspicious.
