Drink driving – know the law and the consequences |

Staffordshire Police would like to remind residents that drink driving is a serious offence and puts lives at risk. ⚖️ The law It is illegal to drive if: Your breath alcohol level is over 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres Your blood alcohol level is over 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres Your urine alcohol level is over 107 milligrams per 100 millilitres Alcohol affects judgement, reaction times and concentration. Even one drink could put you over the limit. 🚔 If found guilty, you could face: A driving ban of at least 12 months An unlimited fine Up to 6 months in prison A criminal record which can affect employment and travel Increased insurance costs and loss of your licence 📢 Our advice If you plan to drink, do not drive. Arrange a designated driver, use public transport, or get a taxi. Never get into a vehicle with a driver who has been drinking. If you suspect someone is drink driving, report it: 999 if there is immediate danger 101 for non‑emergency concerns Together, we can prevent harm and keep Staffordshire’s roads safe | ||
