Police Week of Action – Knife Crime

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our communities safe, officers will be carrying out a dedicated Week of Action targeting knife crime.

Throughout the week, you will see increased police activity across the area, including:

High-visibility patrols in hotspot locations

Stop and search activity where proportionate and necessary

Engagement with schools, youth groups, and community organisations

Weapon sweeps in public areas

Partnership work with local agencies to divert young people from crime

Knife crime has devastating consequences for individuals, families, and the wider community. This action week is focused not only on enforcement, but also on education, prevention, and reassurance.

We would like to remind the public:

Carrying a knife is illegal and puts lives at risk

You can report concerns about knife crime anonymously via Crimestoppers

If you know someone at risk, support is available—early intervention can make a difference

Our aim is to protect lives, reduce harm, and build safer communities. We encourage residents to speak with officers, share concerns, and be part of the solution.
