📱 COMMUNITY SMART ALERT – MEDICAL ID ON YOUR PHONE 📱

Dear Residents,

Did you know your mobile phone can provide vital, potentially life-saving information in an emergency?

Most smartphones allow you to set up a Medical ID, which can be accessed by emergency services even when your phone is locked. This can help first responders quickly understand important details about your health and who to contact.

🚑 Why It’s Important

A completed Medical ID can provide:

Your name and date of birth

Emergency contact details

Medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy)

Allergies (e.g. medication, food)

Medications you take

Blood type

In an emergency, this information can help paramedics and doctors act quickly and appropriately, especially if you are unable to communicate.

📲 How to Set Up Medical ID

✅ On iPhone:

Open the Health app

Tap your profile picture (top right)

Select Medical ID

Tap Edit

Enter your details

Make sure “Show When Locked” is turned ON

Tap Done

✅ On Android:

(Steps may vary slightly depending on device)

Option 1 (Emergency Info):

Open Settings

Go to Safety & Emergency or About Phone

Tap Emergency Information

Add medical details and emergency contacts

Ensure it is accessible from the lock screen

Option 2 (Contact Info/Card):

Some phones also allow you to add emergency info via the lock screen settings or a medical ID app

🔒 Accessing Medical ID (In an Emergency)

Even when locked:

On iPhone: Tap Emergency on the passcode screen, then Medical ID

On Android: Tap Emergency or Emergency Info on the lock screen

Set up their own Medical ID

Help elderly relatives, children, or vulnerable persons set theirs up

Keep the information accurate and up to date
