Community Safety Notice - Door to Door Jewellery, Gold and Silver Buyers

Dear Resident,

Please be aware that there have been reports of door-to-door salespeople operating in the Cannock area offering to buy gold, silver, coins, and jewellery for cash.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when dealing with unexpected callers. Rogue traders and criminals may use these opportunities to pressure individuals into selling valuable items for significantly less than their true value or to target vulnerable residents.

Please remember the following safety advice:

• Do not feel pressured into selling items at your door
• Never invite unknown callers into your home
• Ask for identification and verify who they are
• Consider using a doorbell camera or viewing callers through a window before answering
• Speak to elderly or vulnerable family members and neighbours about staying cautious
• If in doubt, do not engage and politely close the door

If any door-to-door salespeople become aggressive, threatening, or you feel in immediate danger, call the police immediately on 999.

For non-emergency incidents, or if the individuals have already left the area, please report the matter via 101.
