Dispersal Order Issued – Grindley Park, Meir Heath and Surrounding Areas

A dispersal order has been put in place covering Grindley Park, Meir Heath and surrounding areas, following increasing reports of youth-related anti-social behaviour.

The order is immediately effective, meaning police have the power to break up groups of two or more people where they believe behaviour is causing, or is likely to cause, nuisance, harassment, alarm, or distress to local residents.

Start: 16:00 on 30th May 2026

End: 22:00 on31st May 2026 (unless extended)

Legislation: Section 34, Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014

Police Powers

Officers can:

Direct individuals or groups to leave the area

Prevent further anti-social behaviour and disorder

Return under-16s to their home address

Failure to comply with a dispersal notice is a criminal offence, and those breaching it may be arrested and subject to further action.

Police are urging:

Parents and guardians to know where their children are and check in with them

Residents to continue reporting concerns so action can be taken swiftly
