Rural Crime Prevention |
||
|
We’re asking residents, landowners and rural businesses to stay alert and take simple steps that make a big difference in preventing countryside crime.
👨🌾 Farm security: Secure gates, outbuildings and machinery. Consider motion‑activated lighting, alarms or CCTV to deter intruders.
🛢️ Fuel theft prevention: Diesel and heating oil remain prime targets. Lock tanks, fit fuel‑level alarms and keep areas well‑lit.
🐄 Livestock protection: Regularly check stock, maintain boundary fencing and report unusual vehicle activity near fields or livestock buildings.
⚒️ Equipment marking: Mark tools, trailers and machinery with unique identifiers. It helps us return stolen items and discourages thieves.
🚜 Vehicle safety: Tractors, 4x4s and ATVs are frequently targeted. Remove keys, use wheel clamps or immobilisers, and store vehicles out of sight . 🦌 Wildlife & Heritage crime: Report suspicious activity involving wildlife, livestock, protected species, metal theft or damage to historic sites.
👀 Stay Connected: Rural Watch groups and strong communication between neighbours help us identify offenders quickly.
🚯 Fly‑tipping: Report illegal dumping promptly. Offenders often return to the same locations.
If you see anything unusual, trust your instincts.
Report suspicious activity on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Together, we can protect our countryside. 👮♂️🌾 | ||
