Protect Your Home While You're Away This Summer As many residents prepare for holidays and days out over the summer, Staffordshire Police is reminding everyone to take a few simple steps to help keep their homes secure while they're away. 🏡 Make Your Home Look Occupied Use timer switches for lights, radios, or lamps to give the impression that someone is at home.Keep curtains and blinds in their usual positions rather than keeping them closed all day.Avoid advertising your holiday plans on social media until you have returned home.👀 Ask a Trusted Neighbour for Help Let a trusted neighbour know you'll be away and ask them to keep an eye on your property. They can move bins, clear post from behind the door, and report any suspicious activity.Consider exchanging contact details in case any concerns arise while you're away.📹 Use Doorbell Cameras and Home Security Devices Video doorbells and CCTV systems can provide reassurance and allow you to monitor your property remotely.Make sure any security devices are working correctly before you leave.Ensure gates, sheds, garages, and all windows and doors are securely locked.🚗 Don't Forget Your Vehicle Remove valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.Lock your vehicle and keep keys in a secure location inside your home.📞 Report Suspicious Activity If you see suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood, please report it online via Staffordshire Police or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999. Working together, we can help keep Tamworth a safe place to live, work and visit this summer. Your local neighbourhood policing team Staffordshire Police – Tamworth |
