💧 Water Safety Alert

Stay Safe Around Water This Summer

With warmer weather and school holidays ongoing, we would like to remind residents of the dangers associated with open water.

Rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals and quarry pools may appear safe, but hidden hazards such as strong currents, cold-water shock, underwater obstacles and steep banks can put lives at risk.

Please remember:

Never enter water after consuming alcohol or drugs.

Supervise children at all times near water.

Avoid swimming in unsupervised open water locations.

If you get into difficulty, float on your back and call for help.

In an emergency near water, call 999 and ask for the Fire Service or Coastguard as appropriate.
