Romance Fraud Prevention |
||
|
Romance fraud occurs when criminals create fake online profiles to build trust and emotional relationships with victims before asking for money or personal information. Protect yourself by: • Being cautious of people who quickly declare strong feelings online. • Never sending money, gift cards, or sharing bank details with someone you have not met in person. • Being wary of excuses for not meeting face-to-face or video calling. • Checking profile photos using a reverse image search. • Talking to friends or family if you are unsure about an online relationship. 🚨 If you think you have been targeted, stop contact immediately and report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via www.actionfraud.police.uk. Please share this advice with family, friends, and vulnerable members of our community. | ||
