ADVICE FOLLOWING RECENT FIRE IN BRIDGTOWN

#VisibleLocalTrusted | Recently, PC Laila Waiver from Cannock Response attended a fire in Bridgtown that is believed to have been deliberately started by local youths.

Following the incident, PC Waiver would like to remind parents, guardians, and young people of the serious dangers and consequences associated with setting fires. While some may view it as harmless fun, fires can quickly escalate, putting lives, property, and the environment at significant risk.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 PC Waiver's advice to parents and guardians is to have regular conversations with your children about the risks and consequences of fire setting, including:

✅ Fire can quickly get out of control, even when it starts small.
✅ Someone could be seriously injured or lose their life.
✅ Deliberately starting a fire is a criminal offence and may result in police action.
✅ Firefighters and police officers may be diverted from genuine emergencies to deal with preventable incidents.
✅ Fires can cause lasting damage to local green spaces, wildlife, and community property.

PC Waiver also encourages parents to be aware of where their children are spending their time and to discuss the impact that anti-social behaviour can have on the wider community.
