🚜 Rural Crime Alert - Theft of Tractor Parts in Gnosall 🚜

I would like to make members of our rural community aware of a theft that has occurred at a farm in Gnosall between 3rd September and 9th September 2026.

Unknown offender(s) have stolen a tractor hitch and associated locking bolts. Due to the specific nature of the items taken, it is believed the parts may have been targeted and stolen to order.

Agricultural machinery and tractor components remain attractive to criminals due to their value and the ease with which they can be sold on. We are asking farmers, landowners, and rural businesses to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly vehicles or persons seen on farms without a legitimate reason.

Crime Prevention Advice for Farmers

✅ Secure machinery wherever possible in locked buildings or compounds.

✅ Remove detachable components when not in use and store them securely.

✅ Mark valuable equipment and parts using forensic marking products, property marking systems, or unique identifiers.

✅ Keep a detailed inventory of machinery, parts, serial numbers and photographs to assist identification and recovery.

✅ Install and maintain CCTV systems covering farmyards, workshops, machinery stores and access routes.

✅ Improve security lighting around vulnerable areas.

✅ Lock gates and restrict access to machinery storage areas when unattended.

✅ Consider GPS tracking devices for high-value machinery and equipment.

✅ Challenge unfamiliar persons on your land, where safe to do so, and report suspicious behaviour immediately.

✅ Work with neighbouring farms and rural businesses to share information about suspicious vehicles or activity.

Please remember that criminals often conduct reconnaissance before committing offences. If you notice unfamiliar vehicles repeatedly driving around rural areas, stopping near farms, or showing an unusual interest in agricultural machinery and equipment, please report this to police.
