@#VisibleLocalTrusted | This morning, during proactive @#OpLightning patrols around Cannock at school rush hour, officers spotted a vehicle being driven in a manner that caused concern.
The vehicle was stopped and, following further checks, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Thankfully, no collisions occurred and nobody was injured. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drink driving, particularly at a time when our roads are busy with children, parents and school staff travelling to and from school.
Alcohol affects judgement, reaction times and coordination, greatly increasing the risk of a serious collision. Choosing to drive after drinking puts not only yourself at risk, but everyone else using our roads.
Our officers will continue to carry out proactive patrols across the area to keep our communities safe and take action against those who choose to break the law.
If you're drinking, don't drive. Plan ahead, arrange a lift, use public transport, or book a taxi.
