A motorcycle, scooter or moped can be stolen very quickly if it is poorly secured. Police.uk recommends using several layers of security. 🔒 LOCK – use the steering lock, but don’t rely on this alone. Consider a disc lock, grip lock or D-lock as an additional security measure. ⛓️ CHAIN – use a strong chain through the back wheel and secure it tightly to an immovable object or ground anchor whenever possible. 🏍️ COVER – a motorcycle cover hides the make and model and adds another obstacle for a potential thief. And don’t forget: 🔑 Remove the ignition key, even if you’re only leaving the bike for a few moments. 🚨 Consider a quality alarm, immobiliser and tracking system. 🔎 Property-mark components to make stolen parts harder to sell and easier to identify if recovered. 🏠 At home, keep the bike in a locked garage or secure shed where possible and consider fitting a ground anchor. 💡 If you don’t have secure storage, park somewhere well overlooked and well lit.
