The national Ask for Angela scheme supports venues to play a practical role in helping people feel safer by providing a discreet way to ask for support if someone needs it.
Over the summer, officers ran a series of test visits to venues across Cannock, Rugeley, Stafford, Stone, Tamworth and Burton-on-Trent.
A total of 26 venues were tested to assess staff awareness and implementation of the safeguarding initiative, aimed at helping anyone, but particularly women and girls, in need of support while on a night out.
Out of these 26 venues tested, a total of 24 responded appropriately, with staff recognising the phrase and taking effective action to support and safeguard the individual.
The two venues that did not respond appropriately were given advice and guidance by the officers to better recognise and implement the scheme in the future.
