As part of our vehicle crime prevention, we’re reminding residents that a few simple precautions can make your vehicle much less attractive to thieves. ✅ Always lock your vehicle – even if you’re only leaving it for a moment or it’s parked on your driveway. ✅ Close all windows and the sunroof before walking away. ✅ Check the vehicle has actually locked. Criminals can use technology designed to interfere with remote locking signals, so physically check the doors where possible. ✅ Keep vehicle keys and spare keys out of sight and away from doors, windows and letterboxes. ✅ If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider storing keys in a signal-blocking pouch and check periodically that the pouch is still effective. ✅ Consider additional visible security such as a steering-wheel lock, pedal lock or other security-rated device. ✅ Park in a well-lit, busy location whenever possible. Taking a few extra seconds to secure your vehicle could prevent you becoming a victim of crime.
