CARD FRAUD PREVENTION - STAY VIGILANT |
||
|
Staffordshire Police is reminding residents to remain vigilant following reports that offenders may be targeting members of the public in busy locations and using electronic devices in an attempt to obtain data from contactless credit and debit cards. Whilst reports of cards being electronically scanned in public places are uncommon, criminals continue to adapt their methods and may seek opportunities to obtain card information or use stolen cards fraudulently. Contactless cards use RFID/NFC technology to enable quick payments, however banks have a range of fraud prevention measures in place and customers are protected against unauthorised transactions.
