❄️ Winter Vehicle Security & Cold Weather Safety ❄️

❄️ Winter Vehicle Security & Cold Weather Safety ❄️

As temperatures begin to drop and frosty mornings become more common, we're reminding residents to take a few simple steps to stay safe and protect their vehicles.

🚗 Defrost Your Vehicle Safely

Allow extra time before your journey to properly clear all windows, mirrors and lights.

Never drive with only a small area of the windscreen cleared, as this can seriously reduce visibility.

Ensure your windscreen is completely clear of ice, frost and condensation before setting off.

🔑 Don't Leave Your Vehicle Unattended Whilst Defrosting

Criminals often target vehicles left running on driveways or outside homes.

Never leave your keys in the ignition or leave your vehicle unlocked while it warms up.

Even if you're only going back inside for a minute, it only takes seconds for a vehicle to be stolen.

🛡️ Vehicle Security Tips

Always lock your vehicle, even when parked on your driveway.

Remove valuables from sight or take them with you.

Double-check that windows and sunroofs are fully closed.

Consider using additional security devices such as steering wheel locks.

🚶 Take Care on Cold Mornings

Frost and ice can make roads and pavements slippery.

Allow extra time for journeys and keep a safe distance from other road users.

Wear suitable footwear and take care when walking on untreated surfaces.

By taking a few extra minutes to prepare, you can help keep yourself, your vehicle and others safe this winter.

If you see suspicious activity around vehicles in your area, please report it via 101 or online. In an emergency, always call 999.
