Mushroom Pickers Active on Hednesford Hills

Mushroom Pickers Active on Hednesford Hills

We are aware of reports of individuals collecting wild mushrooms on Hednesford Hills, including groups carrying bags and containers capable of holding large quantities.

Members of the public and local landowners are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Whilst picking wild mushrooms for personal use is generally lawful, collecting them for sale or other commercial purposes may constitute an offence under the Theft Act 1968. [legislation.gov.uk]

If you see individuals:

Carrying large volumes of mushrooms.

Using vehicles to transport significant quantities.

Entering restricted or private land.

Engaging in activity that appears commercial in nature.

Please report this to Staffordshire Police via 101, or online.

Kindest Regards PCSO 8848 Nicholls Rural and Wildlife Crime Team
