Updates for the Normacot, Lightwood area this week, fly tipping, cars ticketed, school talk and walk with ASB officer.
Unfortunately 16th October Harlech Avenue 6pm - 6:20pm and 17th October Askern Close 6pm - 6:20pm have had to be cancelled. I will rearrange these for next week. Thursday 15th October 2026: Staffordshire police attended the Alexandra Junior school and did a bonfire and firework safety talk about how to be safe during half term with fireworks and bonfires and how to keep others safe and learning what the consequences can be.
Thursday 15th October 2026: On Thursday 15th October 2026 whilst on patrol in the area residents and visitors to the area raised concerned about household material toys black bin bag waste being dumped in the alleyway of Hamilton Road and Buccleuch Road by a wall. This had increased from last time. This has been reported to the council and will be investigated to see if the fly tipping can be traced to anyone who has done this, where a potential fine would be given. Should anyone see anyone fly tipping in the area please report this to the council on their website. Or see any rubbish in alleyways, please report this to the council. This can be done anonymously. Friday 16th October 2026: Staffordshire Police met the local ASB team from the council walking around the area to discuss ongoing ASB issues in the area which included firework issues, anti-social behaviour in the area and how to look at resolving the issues. Should anyone have any concerns about ASB you can report this to the police on 101 or online. Or this can be reported to Stoke on Trent Council. Friday 16th October 2026: On 16/10/2026, Staffordshire police officers attended Normacot area and conducted a police operation and patrol by checking vehicles are parking correctly on the road and are not blocking junctions exits or full blockage of the pavement preventing pedestrians from using them. Due to issues in the area, where drivers, are not parking on the road correctly and blocking junctions making it hard for vehicles to exit and enter the junctions. As well as, fully blocking pavements forcing pedestrians onto the road. During the patrol around the Normacot area, 12 tickets were given for TOR's (Traffic Offence Reports), for obstructions, parking too close to junctions and parking on yellow zig zags.
