SMART ALERT – Cycling Safety We have received reports of young people performing wheelies and other cycling stunts on local roads in the area. We recognise that cycling is a healthy and enjoyable activity, but carrying out stunts on public roads can increase the risk of injury to the rider, pedestrians and other road users. We would encourage parents and carers to have a quick conversation with their children about where it is safe and appropriate to practise these skills. Where cycling behaviour places others at risk or repeatedly causes concern within the community, officers may speak with riders and their parents, provide advice and warnings, and where necessary investigate any offences that may have been committed. Dangerous cycling and careless or inconsiderate cycling are offences, and in the most serious cases can result in prosecution through the courts. By working together, we can help keep young people safe whilst ensuring everyone can enjoy our roads and public spaces. Thank you for your support. PCSO Ashley Tooth
