With schools breaking up for the October half-term holiday, we are encouraging parents, carers and young people to enjoy the week safely and responsibly. As more children and families spend time outdoors, please remain mindful of personal safety, road safety and anti-social behaviour. 🎃 Halloween Safety If your children are planning to go trick-or-treating: - Always ensure they are accompanied by a responsible adult or remain in a trusted group.
- Make sure parents or carers know where they are going and what time they will return.
- Stay in well-lit areas and avoid shortcuts through parks, alleyways or secluded locations.
- Wear bright or reflective clothing to remain visible to motorists.
- Only visit properties that are clearly welcoming trick-or-treaters and respect any "No Trick or Treat" signs.
- Be considerate of elderly and vulnerable residents.
- Throwing eggs, flour or causing damage is anti-social behaviour and will not be tolerated.
🎆 Bonfire & Firework Safety As Halloween approaches, so too does Bonfire Night. Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the dangers of fireworks and the risks associated with anti-social behaviour involving fireworks. Staffordshire Police and partners recommend attending organised displays wherever possible as they are significantly safer. 🚸 General Half-Term Safety Tips - Know where your children are and who they are with.
- Encourage safe road crossing, especially during darker evenings.
- Remind children to stay together when out with friends.
- Report any incidents of anti-social behaviour or concerns within your community.
👮 Staffordshire Police neighbourhood teams will be providing reassurance patrols and working alongside partner agencies throughout the half-term period to help keep communities safe. Anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly where identified. Reporting - In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, call 999.
- For non-emergencies, report via 101 or through the Staffordshire Police website Live Chat service. [staffordsh....police.uk],
Have a safe and enjoyable half-term, Halloween and Bonfire season. 🎃🚔 |
